As a writer, symbolism is one of my favorite things ever. And this album has a lot of it. In a sense, the name of the album is symbolism itself. A soldier not fighting a war with guns - but a war with themselves, and their past. You'll be filled with a newfound determination in your chest that only grows and grows the more you listen. It's comforting, in a weird but good sort of way.

This album has great continuity through out. The tones have been well selected and the lyrics integrate extremely well. I recommend this to just about anyone who's into the genre !

Simply calling Ashes an EDM album is a huge understatement. Illenium's songs are bursting with emotion, spirit, wonder and hope. The vocalists he works with are breathtaking. My favorite track is the Echos collaboration, Afterlife, it almost brought me to tears. The entire album is like a Vitamin C bomb for your senses. This is fine art. A triumph.
